Significant Archaeological finds in Laois and the surrounding areas include buildings, ruins, tombs, graves and sites where people lived or carried out industry. An example of which can be seen in this report.
Many archaeological monuments have been identified in Laois and recorded by the Archaeological Survey of Ireland. These are listed in the Record of Monuments and Places (RMP) for the County and are protected by law. These can be viewed on the Monument viewer

Individual archaeological objects are also of great importance. As there is no county museum or designated repository in County Laois, all archaeological objects that are discovered should, by law, be deposited with the National Museum.
