Built and Natural Heritage Walk Vicarstown

On Saturday, August 31st Laois Heritage Society presents a Built and Natural Heritage and Walk from 2pm – 5pm at the canal in Vicarstown.
All are invited to come along, there will be refreshments and a picnic along the way.
This walk is part of a report completed by Séan Murray of Laois Heritage Society on the heritage of the Barrowline. Séan will give a talk on the topic later in the year as part of the Heritage Society’s line up of heritage talks.
Also found during his work on the Barrowline was a stone axe, see attached news article https://www.leinsterexpress.ie/news/news/346070/ancient-axe-discovered-by-laois-archaeology-in-river-barrow.html
In an era before the car, the canal in Laois would have been as busy as the M7 on a Monday morning (well, almost!)
We look forward to seeing you all there!
